Most of the internships below are open to GHP- and non-GHP students alike, which makes it a great place to begin your internship search. Visit our Internship Resources & Funding page for additional sources of health-related internships (some of which may also fulfill the GHP summer research requirement).

GHP students: Internships on this list are pre-approved to fulfill the GHP research requirement when completed in the summer after junior year. You may not pre-fulfill the GHP research requirement during freshman or sophomore year–but you can get great experience through these internships at any time, even if you don't do them for GHP credit.

Center for Health Policy Studies, Zhejiang University School of Medicine - Hangzhou, ChinaThe Center for Health Policy Studies at Zhejiang University School of Medicine specializes in the following research areas: mental health, health determinants and outcomes assessment, health economics and policy, family medicine and community health services.

Chronic Disease Research Institute, Zhejiang University School of Public Health - Hangzhou, China. The Chronic Disease Research Institute (CDRI) at Zhejiang University School of Public Health is committed to conducting high-quality research on the prevention and treatment of obesity, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other related chronic diseases.

International Care Ministries - Philippines. International Care Ministries (ICM) has been serving the ultrapoor in the Philippines since 1992. In partnership with community leaders from thousands of slum communities, ICM delivers programs that transform the lives of more than 100,000 destitute people each year. ICM is a faith-based non-governmental organization; however, interns may be from any background, and the analytical work is secular.

Lab of Translational Medicine, Zhejiang University School of Medicine - Hangzhou, China. The lab of Translational Medicine at Zhejiang University School of Medicine conducts research on the molecular mechanism underlying stomach cancer, the second leading cause of cancer-related death in China.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital Pediatric Obesity Program - Memphis, Tennessee. The University of Tennessee Health Science Center/Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital Pediatric Obesity Program develops, delivers, and evaluates pediatric obesity prevention and treatment interventions that are culturally tailored for the population of the Mid-South region.

Mpala Research Centre - Laikipia County, Kenya. The Mpala Research Centre and Wildlife Foundation facilitates and exemplifies sustainable human-wildlife co-existence and the advancement of human livelihoods and quality of life. Interns at Mpala will work on research that relates to animal and human health.

Oxford University Clinical Research Unit - Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vietnam. The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) aims to have a positive and significant impact on global health and, in particular, the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.

Telethon Kids Institute - Perth, Australia. Interns at Telethon Kids Institute - University of Western Australia Perth will assist with pragmatic intervention/clinical trials aimed at preventing and treating infectious diseases in children. See HGC internship webpage for details.

Timmy Global Health - Indianapolis, Indiana. Timmy Global Health is an Indianapolis-based not-for-profit organization that expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing global health challenges.

U.S. Peace Corps, Office of Global Health and HIV, Washington D.C. The Office of Global Health and HIV (OGHH) provides technical and operational support to Peace Corps posts and headquarters offices to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities where Volunteers serve.

Fundación Salud por Derecho – Right to Health Foundation - Madrid, Spain. Fundacion Salud por Derecho is a non-profit, independent foundation that uses a proactive approach to propose solutions and influence the design and implementation of public policies as they pertain to the right to public health and health care.

Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (ICCP) - Kolkata, India. IICP offers services across the life-cycle from newborn babies aged to adults over 50 years of age.

Jabulani Rural Health Foundation / Zithulele Hospital - Zithulele Village, South Africa. The Jabulani Rural Health Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 by four doctors.

The Lancet - London, England. The Lancet is a leading general medical journal, published weekly, and shares office space with around ten Lancet specialty titles published monthly.

Partners in Health (PIH) Liberia - Monrovia, Liberia. PIH is a Boston, Massachusetts-based non-profit health care organization founded in 1987. PIH has close to 30 years of experience providing high-quality clinical care in resource-poor settings.

Pasteur Institute, Department of Cell Biology and Infection - Paris, France. Since its creation in 1887, the Institut Pasteur has become famous throughout the world as a symbol of science and French culture. 

Philani Child Health & Nutrition Project - Khayelitsha, South Africa. Interns at Philani Maternal, Child Health, and Nutrition Project will work in Khayelitsha, an African township, 25 km from Cape Town city center.

PRICELESS-SA (Priority Cost-Effective Lessons for Systems Strengthening-South Africa) - South Africa. PRICELESS-SA is a country-based initiative based at the Wits School of Public Health.
