Conference Funding

The Center for Health and Wellbeing has limited resources to support undergraduate or graduate students invited to present their original global health-related research at an academic conference.

Students interested in requesting CHW financial support for conference presentation should e-mail the following information to Director of Global Health Programs Gilbert Collins at [email protected]:

  • Letter of invitation from conference organizers
  • Description of conference, with website
  • Brief description of student’s original research
  • Detailed travel budget (can include transportation, lodging, food, conference fees)

Depending on available funds, CHW may make an award of up to 50% student’s travel budget, with a maximum award of $750 (50% of $1,500).  After the conference, funded students must submit to CHW a written summary of how the presentation went, receipts for the major non-food expenses, and a few photos.

CHW is unfortunately not able to provide students funding to attend conferences at which they are not official presenters.

The one exception is the annual Global Health and Innovation Conference at Yale University in April, for which CHW will provide a subsidy to partially offset undergraduate and graduate student registration fees.  Details for this financial support are announced in the early spring semester.
